- These tutorials focus mainly on OpenGL, Win32 programming and the ODE physics engine. OpenGL has moved on to great heights and I don't cover the newest features but cover all of the basic concepts you will need with working example programs.
- Projective texture mapping is a method of texture mapping described by Segal that allows the texture image to be projected onto the scene as if by a slide projector. Figure 1 shows some example screen shots from the projspot demo, available in the NVIDIA OpenGL SDK. Projective texture mapping is useful in a variety of lighting

- The clip coordinate system is a homogeneous coordinate system in the graphics pipeline that is used for clipping. In OpenGL, clip coordinates are positioned in the pipeline just after view coordinates and just before normalized device coordinates (NDC).
- global coordinates any reason why the global coordinates in the toolkit are set up so the camera is looking in the positive Z? this makes for some odd quirks...like positive Y is down in screen space. and a few OpenGL features assume the camera is looking towards negative Z - namely environment mapping.
- OpenGL allows you to define objects using coordinates in three-dimensional space. So, before you can draw a triangle, you must define its coordinates. In OpenGL, the typical way to do this is to define a vertex array for the coordinates. By default, OpenGL ES assumes a coordinate system where [0,0,0] (X,Y,Z) specifies the center of the ...
- Aug 11, 2010 · Setting Up Your Coordinate System. In Chapter 1, we introduced the two kinds of projections that we most often use in 3D graphics (orthographic and perspective). These projections, or types of coordinate systems, are really just a specially formed 4 x 4 transformation matrix.
- Depth of Field with OpenGL/GLSL! • how to get metric depth of a fragment?! • in fragment shader we provide depth map z as uniform texture in window coordinates (range [0,1]) along with x,y fragment position in window coordinates! • need to convert x,y,z window to view/camera coordinates x,y,z view and then calculate distance as ! dist=x view
Jan 24, 2020 · Mesa 20.0 Now Defaults To The New Intel Gallium3D Driver For Faster OpenGL. After missing their original target of transitioning to Intel Gallium3D by default for Mesa 19.3 as the preferred OpenGL Linux driver on Intel graphics hardware, this milestone has now been reached for Mesa 20.0. The remapping of the z-coordinate from 0 to 1 is not a linear process. In the image on the right, we have plotted the result of z' with the near and far clipping planes set to 1 and 20, respectively. As is evident, the curve is steep for values in the interval [1:3] and quite flat for values greater than 7.
